A leading Aerospace company is another user of WinWedge software
WinWedge Pro is installed on an IBM-PC running Windows 95. The PC is set to receive serial data from an embedded DEC PDP-11 computer in an aircraft maintenance trainer. The DEC Assembly program generates the "Global" flags and some numeric data. WinWedge transfers these flags and data to the Color Multi-function Display Indicator (CMDI) simulation software via a DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) link. WinWedge fully supports transferring serial data via DDE to other DDE supporting Windows applications such as the CMDI software. The Windows-based CMDI software drives a simulated cockpit 4x4 CMDI (Color Multi-function Display) Unit that is used to display maintenance data.

According to a Computer Systems Specialist at the aerospace company, "WinWedge was easily installed and configured to receive the serial data and transferred that data to my application program, without my having to program/code drivers".

Overview of the System

• Embedded DEC PDP-11 computer collects Aircraft maintenance information.
• This data is transferred via a serial connection to a Windows PC running WinWedge 32 Pro.
• WinWedge feeds the data real-time into CMDI software which displays the maintenance information in real-time and also drives a cockpit CMDI (Display) unit.
